The most versatile ever belay device. The Giga Jul by EDELRID is a standard and assisted braking tuber in one.
The assisted braking function which supports the braking force can be activated or disabled by an intelligent mechanism. For situation-dependent belaying and abseiling, especially in alpine terrain.
The Giga Jul by EDELRID is particularly light and simultaneously robust and abrasion resistant. This is made possible by a smart hybrid construction of aluminum and steel. The main body of the Giga Jul is made from particularly light aluminum. Parts which are at risk of wear (for example the friction channels) are made from robust stainless steel.
By moving the green slider, the Giga Jul by EDELRID is instantly transformed from an assisted braking tuber to a standard tuber. In recent years, the use of assisted braking tubers has dominated sport and alpine climbing. Its advanced safety reserves, which result from its assisted braking when arresting a fall, makes the use of this type of device especially advisable. For this reason the Alpine Associations of Germany, Austria and Switzerland (DAV, ÖAV, SAC) recommend the use of assisted braking tubers.
Nevertheless, there are applications (particularly in alpine climbing) where the use of standard tubers is still advantageous. Especially when secured from a fixed point (belay station), their highly dynamic braking performance may be preferred. Abseiling and belaying the second with a doubled rope is markedly more comfortable with a standard tuber.

Because of the relatively small factory inventories at outdoor clothing collections, we can not guarantee for constant availability of all parts of our online collection. For bulky goods we calculate the actual costs as surcharge fee for each product. As an example bulky goods are: Ski (with a length of more than 160 cm), bicycles, mountain bikes, and volume elements for climbing walls. Bulky goods can be recognized by an additional labeling in the product selection, indicating a shipping rate in the prefix, which will be added as an additional charge for the product in the cart. You never pay more than indicated in your shopping cart. Partial delivery causes no additional costs within EU countries and Switzerland; please enter a phone number where you are reachable during the day.
Orders are shipped only when all previous deliveries already have been paid.
