Dachstein shoes - the name for mountaineering boots of the finest quality
Probably the biggest challenge for a traditional manufacturer like Dachstein is to remain true to oneself in the line while at the same time opening doors to technological innovations, climate change and new requirements. As early as 1925, Dachstein began manufacturing high-quality mountain hiking and ski boots. The Austrian company, which is based in Bergheim near Salzburg, laid the foundation for today's success. Outdoor shoes and mountain boots are still part of the label's core assortment. The portfolio of Dachstein shoes ranges from technologically sophisticated trekking shoes and warm winter boots to rustic but urban-oriented lifestyle models and sneakers. The still existing connection to the origins of the company is always visible. The Dachstein Footwear team has managed to create an independent shoe fashion line. It has recognisable core qualities and designs.
Walking on uneven paths with Dachstein boots
When it comes to trendy and traditional mountain sports shoes, sooner or later the name Dachstein will fall. Classic design qualities meet the best that modern shoe fashion technologies have to offer. The best leather is finished with
- non-slip Vibram soles
- climate-regulating Gore Tex, DryDS or Pertex membranes
- the company's own Lace-Smart lacing
- combinations of leather and Schladminger Loden
- warming fleece linings
- mesh fabric
Whether it's approach shoes, hiking boots or sneakers - Dachstein boots designs have recognisable unique selling points and a pleasingly clear look. Some outdoor shoes are based on the traditional costume style. This is no wonder, because there is a fashion cooperation with the traditional Austrian label Almgwand, to which we dedicate a separate category in the eXXpozed shop, and which is also based in Salzburg. Interesting and a speciality of the brand Dachstein is the use of loden in mountaineering shoes. This classic fabric, which was previously used primarily in traditional costume jackets, coats and trousers, has surprisingly functional properties. The densely woven loden fabric is vapour permeable and breathable. It is largely waterproof and windproof. The excellent climate regulation also works for outdoor footwear where feet start to sweat quickly.
It is a declared aim of Dachstein shoes that they should cut a good figure in the urban context as well. Conversely, the lifestyle models and sneakers of the brand should also have functional properties that make them more suitable for outdoor use than purely fashionable aspects. From ambitious alpine tour gourmets to pure pleasure hikers, every customer is served with suitable footwear. The clientele of trail runners will also find Dachstein Bergsport shoes with the desired properties. The makers behind Dachstein do not see themselves primarily as shoemakers. They accentuate their identity as sportsmen who are even attached to the mountain landscapes surrounding them. They want to make shoes that are suitable for outdoor use. The personal knowledge of the needs that active athletes place on mountaineering shoes today is helpful in the development of new concepts and ideas.
Tested and approved for alpine use: Dachstein hiking boots
Every single shoe model that leaves the design offices at Dachstein is put through its paces by the company's experienced employees. High wearing comfort, excellent cushioning properties and stability, the properties of the soles or the degree of breathability or waterproofness are scrutinized closely. The longevity and durability of their hiking and mountaineering boots is just as important to the Dachstein makers as the slip resistance of the soles or the quality of their lacing systems. These must also work with ice-cold hands.
One of Austria's most striking mountains, the Dachstein, after which the company was named, is both a challenge and an obligation. The mountaineering brand successfully represents its qualitative and design ideals on the market because of its own high standards. The addition of sneakers and urban shoe fashion was coherent and logical. Demanding hikers and other outdoor sportsmen can be found everywhere. But not solid footwear with features that Dachstein shoes offer.
Urban style meets alpine functionality
Dachstein's outdoor shoes have long since added new chapters to the opening chapter of the company's history. When Anton Lintner opened his shoe making shop in 1925, there was no industrial production of shoes. The credo of the company was and still is to adopt the values of that time into the industrial production of later days. Dachstein's increased production capacity should not be at the expense of quality. In 1970, ski boots and boots for ski racers came onto the market. The quality of the Dachstein shoes has proven itself in ski competitions and the Olympic Games of Lake Placid. Being open-minded about new technologies but not throwing old values overboard is one of the most important qualities of Dachstein boots to this day.
The ingenious idea of a central entry point for ski boots marked a revolution in the 1980s. Since 2003, however, ski boots have no longer been part of the Dachstein range. Instead, a stronger emphasis was placed on lifestyle shoe fashion as well as trekking and hiking shoes. Today, all Dachstein shoes combine urban style and alpine functionality in a harmonious way. In terms of urban and sportable outdoor or mountaineering footwear for alpine use, nobody can fool this company.
